A LITTLE FUN ON A TUESDAY


THE TIGERS TRAVELED TO HEIDELBERG UNIVERSITY ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 11TH FOR A UNIQUE WRESTLING TRIP.


FIRST UP - PRACTICE AT THE FAMOUS TIN GYM, FOLLOWED BY DINNER AT REINOS. 


THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT WAS WATCHING "THE BERG" UNDER THE MAT LAMP.

 

#22 RANKED HEIDELBERG UNIVERSITY SOUNDLY DEFEATED OAC RIVAL AND #10 RANKED MOUNT UNION BY A FINAL SCORE OF 22-10.


FORMER HURON STANDOUT NINO MAJOY RECORDED HIS 30TH WIN ON THE SEASON FOR THE BERG, AND WAS ABLE TO SPEND TIME WITH THE TIGER WRESTLERS.  IT WAS A GREAT DAY OF WRESTLING.

SENIOR NIGHT


ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 4TH SENIORS DON LARK AND SPENCER MADDOX WERE HONORED FOR THEIR HARD WORK, LEADERSHIP, AND DEDICATION TO THE HURON WRESTLING PROGRAM.  BOTH HAVE BEEN A GREAT PRESENCE IN THE PROGRAM AND WILL BE MISSED NEXT YEAR. 


IN THE LAST HOME EVENT FOR THE SEASON THE TIGERS TANGLED WITH PLYMOUTH, WITH THE MATCH ENDING IN A TIE.  BASED ON CRITERIA PLYMOUTH WAS AWARDED THE VICTORY 33-34.


IN THE LAST MATCH OF THE EVENING, THE TIGERS DEFEATED BUCKEYE CENTRAL 58-9.  THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE MATCH WAS WELCOMING A NEW MEMBER TO THE 100 WIN CLUB.  SENIOR SPENCER MADDOX WITH A CONVINCING 16-4 VICTORY. SPENCER JOINS TEAMMATE BRYSEN MANSOR IN THE RECORD BOOKS.



THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6TH - THE TIGERS TRAVELED TO MONROEVILLE FOR A TRI MATCH WITH NEW LONDON.  IT WOULD BE THE FINAL TUNE-UP BEFORE THE TIGERS ENTER TOURNAMENT TIME AT SECTIONALS.


THE FIRST MATCH OF THE NIGHT THE TIGERS DEFEATED MONROEVILLE 35-30


THE LAST MATCH THE TIGERS DEFEATED NEW LONDON 48-29.

SANDUSKY BAY CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT

 

THE 2013-2014 SBC TOURNAMENT WOULD BE ONE TO REMEMBER.  ST. MARY'S CC -  A SMALL BUT MIGHTY POWERHOUSE IN THE CONFERENCE FOR MANY YEARS COMPETED FOR THE LAST TIME IN THE SBC TOURNAMENT.  FOR MOST YOUNG MEN THIS WAS JUST ANOTHER DAY, BUT FOR THE COACHES, FANS, AND SCHOOL PERSONNEL WHO HAVE WATCHED SBC WRESTLING OVER THE YEARS, IT WAS THE END OF SOMETHING SPECIAL. 

 

THE TIGERS ENTERED THE TOURNAMENT BATTERED AND BRUISED, MISSING TWO STARTERS IN BRYSEN MANSOR & JAKE ORTMAN.  THE TEAM FINISHED 7TH AHEAD OF PORT CLINTON, AND FAILED TO PLACE SOMEONE INTO THE FINALS.

 

TOMMY KING LED THE WAY WITH A 3RD PLACE FINISH AT 145, SPENCER MADDOX (152) AND CODY MYERS (160) WERE 4TH.

D3 DUALS @SMCC

 

THE TIGERS TRAVELED TO ST. MARY'S FOR THE ANNAUL D3 DUALS - 2 DAYS OF WRESTLING AGAINST SOME OF THE BEST D3 TEAMS IN THE STATE.

 

THE TIGERS FINISHED 2-7 AS A TEAM, BUT WERE LED BY 152- SPENCER MADDOX.  SPENCER FINISHED 8-1, WITH THE LONE LOSS COMING AT THE HANDS OF RETURNING STATE CHAMPION JACOB DANISHEK OF DAYTON CHRISTIAN.  HIS HARD WORK SECURED HIM A SPOT ON THE ALL TOURNAMENT TEAM.

 

 

OHSAA REGIONALS & D3 DUALS

 

A BIG WEEK FOR THE TIGERS STARTED AT EDISON HS FOR THE OHSAA REGIONAL QUARTERFINALS. 

 

THE TIGERS DEFEATED SMCC 46-23 IN THE FIRST ROUND, THEN FELL TO EDISON 38-42 IN THE SECOND ROUND.

 

 

 

 

THE WEEKEND APPROACHED, AND THE TIGERS TRAVELED TO SMCC HS FOR THE D3 DUALS.  A TWO DAY EVENT FEATURING ONLY DIVISION 3 TEAMS.

 

WRESTLING WITHOUT TWO STARTERS DUE TO INJURY, THE TIGERS FINISHED 2-7 AS A TEAM.  THE TEAM HAD WINS AGAINST MAPLETON AND MOHAWK, BUT FELL TO GENOA, DAYTON CHRISTIAN, BROOKVILLE, READING, NORWAYNE, HOPEWELL LOUDON, AND TINORA.

 

SENIOR CAPTAIN SPENCER MADDOX LED THE TIGERS WITH A STELLAR 8-1 RECORD FOR THE TOURNAMENT.  HIS ONLY LOSS CAME AT THE HANDS OF RETURNING STATE CHAMPION JACOB DANISHEK OF DAYTON CHRISTIAN.  HIS PERFORMANCE SECURED HIM A SPOT ON THE ALL TOURNAMENT TEAM.

 

 

MARION COUNTY INVITE

THE TIGERS TRAVELED TO MARION FOR A 2 DAY EVENT AT THE MARION COLISEUM.  THIS EVENT IS A BIG CHALLENGE EACH YEAR AS THE TIGERS FACE OFF AGAINST SOME OF THE BEST TALENT IN THE STATE.  MAT TIME IS IMPORTANT THIS TIME OF THE YEAR AND THE TIGERS SAW PLENTY OF ACTION.

AFTER 2 LONG DAYS OF COMPETITION 2 TIGERS EMERGED AS PLACERS.

STITCHCO CLASSIC - COSHOCTON HS

JANUARY 3 & 4, 2014

 

 

10 WRESTLERS TRAVELED TO COSHOCTON HS SEEKING COMPETITON AND MAT TIME.  THE STITCHCO CLASSIC - A 20 TEAM, 2 DAY POOL TOURNAMENT - THE NEXT STEP TOWARD REACHING OUR GOAL OF WRESTLING ON THE FIRST SATURDAY IN MARCH.

MARION HARDING CLASSIC

DECEMBER 27 & 28, 2013

 

NEW TO THE SCHEDULE THIS YEAR, THE HARDING CLASSIC IS A 36 TEAM BRACKET TOURNAMENT WITH TEAMS FROM ALL PARTS OF THE STATE.  WE SENT 7 WRESTLERS TO COMPETE, AND RETURNED WITH 4 PLACE WINNERS.
